Dear S.S. Wong:

‘Frog in the Well’ by S.S. Wong is a lively and highly readable take on the eternal philosophical questions of man. Clever bug metaphors draw the reader into a fairly-tale like land where bugs suffer the trials and tribulations of people and seek answers to the seemingly unanswerable.

‘Frog in the Well’ paints a vivid picture of the author's personal philosophy, and even includes a detailed compendium that allows the most enthusiastic of readers to delve deeper into the concepts presented in the story itself.

I enjoyed ‘Frog in the Well’ but found it difficult to keep track of the names and species of the various characters that appear throughout the story. Regardless, I found it easy to enjoy this book while delving a bit deeper into the ideas S.S. Wong ultimately sought to present. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in philosophy, especially university students who are just entering the realm of academic thought and need an approachable introduction.

Great work!

Jeff

Dear Steve:

Your story is really funny and I really like all the characters. I also like the sub-plots. Good luck with your book!

T.G.

Dear Steve:

Frog in the Well is somewhat reminiscent of George Orwell's Animal Farm. Whereas Orwell uses the lives of domestic animals to illustrate the failings of socialist revolution, this novel moves to an even lower level of the animal world, that of bugs and other small creatures, to re-examine human history, politics, economics, and religion.

It is intricately conceived, obsessively composed, and notably strange.

Dear FrogintheWell.com:

"Frog in the Well" is a book that has the potential to be a first-class bestseller. "Frog" is ground-breaking, and definitely has the potential to be made into what would easily be the greatest animated feature film in history.

"Frog" is the "Braveheart" and "The Passion of the Christ" of the bug world. It is epic literature, and readers will be treated to the story of human history. The reader doesn't just learn about how democracies and empires are created; he/she lives the action from start to finish. Mr. Wong pilots the reader through the horrors of life in concentration camps and gruesome torture methods almost unimaginable. And just as freely, he takes us through the most boring humdrum life of eating dinner with the family.

He saves the biggest shocker for the end, when he adds an appendix that seeks to explain the existence of God. For anyone who is unsure of what role to play in life, reading "Frog" may just unveil the answer for him. In the end, it is difficult to grasp WHY "Frog" is such a good read, but it sure is.

PT.

"Frog in the Well" is truly a unique epic!

The story begins slowly, and then it picks up speed - not only in regard to the plot, but in regard to the story’s political and social message as well. In the Appendix, S.S. Wong comes up with a climatic and shocking theory on the meaning of life, forcing me to re-read the entire novel over again!

On the downside, the novel is too descriptive, although the prose is quite readable. On the upside, I was lost in an imaginary wonderland inside of a well – full of adventure and humour.

A deep, meaningful novel for adults.

Dear Steve:

Loved the book. You are a very clever writer. And my son also liked it. I really can relate to Simon the dung beetle! A real mid-life crisis story!!

Best wishes.
